The first concept screenshot is available of the new Radar Viewer app for windows computers. This little program will enable a user to view the latest radar image for a location of their choice – without having to go to the weather websites.

This version does not do looped images due to the complexity of coding such a thing in VB.net. If the app turns out to be popular, I will create all the layers and loops required to display multiple images.

This program does not require installation – the executable is all that will be required. This is an early version of the software - an update should follow soon – with available download soon after.

How information is being brought across to the user can be very important. I was planning to include text based location information for the MultiView screen but after a short trial I decided to get rid of it permanently.

A better way to relay the location information is by pop up. The balloon notification function is the best way to do this. Below is a screenshot on how all this works. Simply by hovering your mouse over the image will give you the current location. I am also planning to include some more info in this during one of the later builds.

As you can see, all information is relayed through pop-up style balloons. There will be the option to disable as well.

I was planning on having an area where I can update all people interested in my software. This blog will basically be the only place where I will post updates, new features and concepts.

MultiView

I have been working on this for a little while but never had time to post about it. MultiView had been requested by many users since it makes viewing multiple cameras easy. Regions are divided into Zones of 6 cameras each.

For example; The screenshot below shows all inner city cameras.

Screenshot of the MultiView screen in the latest development build. All 6 cameras update automatically every 60 seconds on average. A reasonably fast connection will be required to use this feature. Slower connections still work but may take longer to grab the images from source.

A button has been added to access the Zone. This invokes a call to the MultiView form to include all cameras in this Zone.
