This page features quick specs of Scanners that are sold in australia - both analog and digital. The prices here are RRP and you may find cheaper prices if you shop in online stores such as DontGetCaught.com.au
Uniden (bearcat) had been one of the very first companies releasing a digital scanning unit for Australia. There were always issues with overseas digital scanner as they were not fully capable decoding the digital APCO25 system which has become standard by the Australian government and industry.
Remember that if you live in ACT, NSW, Vic, QLD encryption has been introduced by law enforcement turning your police scanners into bricks - but dont worry, there is plenty more out there to scan than just police traffic. You just got to look.
To date, Uniden has released 2 digital scanners in australia - 1 Desktop/In-car unit and one portable unit. Both can be seen below. The price still has not come down much and both scanners still retail around the $1000 dollar mark with the cheapest pricing for the portable unit being around $850 dollars.

Just like with the digital scanners, the most popular analog scanners for beginners and enthusiasts are sold by Uniden (Bearcat). There is a wide range available from other companies but I will stick to the Uniden products on this website. Uniden Scanners are starting with the UBC73XLT which retails from $199.95AUD, then the UBCD93XLT which retails at $269.95AUD and then UBCT-9 desktop unit which retails at $429AUD.
The previous models UBCD72XLT, UBCD92XLT and UBCT8 are now discontinued and have been removed from the uniden website. I kept them here for reference as they can still be found online .
